Join the American Mushroom Institute and the Canadian Mushroom Growers’ Association February 18-20, 2007 at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina for the 19th North American Mushroom Conference (NAMC) and Expo.

Getting to San Diego is a breeze.  San Diego International Airport has 18 carriers making over 600 arrivals and departures a day.  There is international service from Mexico and Canada – including direct flights from Toronto and Vancouver.  The airport is conveniently located three miles northwest of downtown San Diego and even closer to the San Diego Sheraton Hotel and Marina – host hotel for the NAMC.

The conference begins with the Expo Opening on Sunday evening.   This is a chance to see old friends and business contacts as you visit the supplier booths in the Sheraton’s Grand Ballroom.  You’ll also enjoy a delicious buffet.

Ralph Noble, Ph.D., Horticulture Research Institute, United Kingdom, will lead off the conference when he gives the Andrew O’Neil Memorial Lecture on Monday morning.  “Keys to Farm Survival in a Changing Environment” will be the topic for the sessions on Monday.  Experts from around the world will share personal perspectives on the steps necessary to remain in business during changing times.

On Tuesday, food trends will be outlined and an economic outlook for produce will be discussed.  Worldwide mushroom marketing will be clarified as we hear from representatives of the U.S. Mushroom Council and the Australian and Canadian Mushroom Growers’ Associations. Food safety issues from the regulatory and legal perspective also will be explored.  An important case study on a recent recall is planned.

Those participating in the Partner’s Program will be whisked away to downtown San Diego to the Wine and Culinary Center for a fun and instructive morning on Monday followed by a gourmet lunch at the Center.  On Tuesday, those not attending the business sessions can head north for a tour of the La Jolla shopping district.

A spectacular closing party is planned aboard a new luxury yacht called the California Spirit on Tuesday evening. The boat is designed for elegant cruising and entertaining. Make sure you’re in ship-shape to enjoy an evening of dining and dancing along San Diego’s moonlit harbor.

Educational opportunities, networking, socializing – there’s something for everyone at the 19th North American Mushroom Conference.   For a brochure with hotel and registration information, go to the AMI Web site, and click on North American Mushroom Conference to download forms.

We hope to see you in San Diego!
