In the beautiful town of Stellenbosch, near Cape Town in South Africa, the mushroom experience is taken to another dimension by the launch of the Wild Mushroom hotel.
The gourmet mushroom academy, a South African organisation to promote exotic mushrooms, has been the driving force behind this new project. The hotel, a restored manor house at Digteby Estate, has six luxury rooms overlooking the Boland Mountains. There are cultivation cellars in the hotel as well, where mycologist Adriaan Smit shows the interested visitor how several species of exotic mushrooms are grown.
