In 2002 and 2004 similar stimulating workshops on Phase-I Composting Technology for Mushroom Cultivation, were organised.
A report on the workshop held in Vught in 2004, where eighty participants from all over the world discussed different approaches and processes for compost production, was published in Mushroom Business nr. 6 (August 2004). Geert Lemmers, Ray Samp, David Tolson and Gerben Straatsma were among the speakers at the meeting.
This year, the workshop will be organized by Applied Plant Research, Mushroom Research Unit, and is supported by Christiaens Group, AdVisie – the mushroom growing consultants, and C point – training and consultancy; The Netherlands.
The number of participants will be limited to ensure high quality output for participants.
The organisers have just sent a first announcement, but ideas and suggestions are welcome. Topics of previous workshops can be re-addressed, or can be treated in depth or in summarized form. In case you are aware of innovative work not yet receiving the attention it deserves, a speaker can be suggested.
At this moment the organisers consider to address topics related to the whole production chain, say after sales. They also would like to pay attention to production processes with straw like substrates that bear similarity to the composting process in order to identify possibilities for innovation.
