CNC Substrat Polska, part of the Dutch CNC Substrates group, has completed the acquisition of Limax Substrates, producer of mushroom substrate in Żodyń, Poland.
Together with its existing sites in Gościejewo and Spytkówki, CNC Substrat Polska now operates four production plants with a combined production of around 2,700 tonnes of substrate per week, making it the third-largest substrate producer in Poland, according to a CNC press release on November 2nd.
CNC Substrat Polska is part of the CNC Substrates group from the Netherlands, which produces 8,500 tonnes of spawn-run (phase III) compost per week. Together, the group can produce 11,200 tonnes of phase III compost per week.
For growers, nothing changes in the short term: the same people, the same substrate and the same delivery schedule. Over time, CNC Substrat Polska will invest in quality, technology and security of supply across its four plants. The experienced team in Żodyń, led by site director Robert Van De Mortel, remains in place, and Robert Van De Mortel joins the management team of CNC Substrat Polska.
Rudi Joris, Managing Director CNC Substrat Polska: “Growers are looking for partners who can guarantee quality and continuity. With Limax, we bring together strong plants and teams in Western Poland, so that we can offer exactly that.”
Hildo Brilleman, CEO CNC said: “Poland is a key market for the CNC group. This step underlines our long-term commitment to Polish mushroom growers.”
Since CNC was acquired by Sun European Partners at the end of 2020, it has sold a number of divisions and business units, including the casing soil branch, but has also acquired other companies (VEME, Verbruggen Substraat, DTO and Polish compost company Kompostpal).
